On April 20th the Orange County Board of Commissioners officially passed a resolution naming the adult day health program wing of the Central Orange Senior Center in Hillsborough in honor of Florence Gray Soltys. This wing was formerly called Senior Care of Orange County. Jack Chestnut, President of Senior Care of Orange County, Inc. that operates the adult day health program on behalf of the county, stated that “ We are extremely happy about this and appreciate the County Commissioners’ action. There will be an official reception of this honor on May 27, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Senior Center located at 105 Meadowland Drive, Hillsborough, NC. Everyone is invited. There will be tours of the center, refreshments, and music as part of the unveiling ceremony that will take place around 5 p.m.
The Senior Care Board will also be announcing the establishment of the “Florence Soltys Memorial Scholarship Fund” to carry out Florence’s wish that everyone, regardless of income, will be helped if they need adult day health to remain at home. Any donations made will be tax-deductible. Contributions can be mailed to the Florence Soltys Adult Day Health Program, P.O. Box 8181, Hillsborough, NC 27278.
